July 2019 Favourites

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

Can't believe it's time to do another monthly favourites post which means July is coming to an end already! So for the month of July, I've been loving quite a few items and if you're curious to see what I've been loving, keep on reading!

1) Aladdin Musical

Picture taken from Sistic.com
First on my list has got to be my ultimate favourite of the month and it's the Aladdin Musical that I had recently caught. I kid you not, this is the BEST musical I've ever watched and I think it's even better than The Lion King Musical. The costume, the props, the performers are all on point and it gives off a magical vibe. In fact, there was really magic performed on the stage as well. The Genie was the total star on stage, he was so engaging, so real and I can't get my eyes off him the whole time. When Aladdin and Princess Jasmine sat on the magic carpet and went for the ride singing "A Whole New World", my eyes got all teary because it was so magical and I had that "dreams do come true" thought in my mind. And this is the ONE AND ONLY  Asian stop for the Aladdin Musical so if you haven't watched any musical before in your entire life, just go for this and you'll definitely not regret. If you're contemplating still, think no further, they are here till 1st September 2019 so just go get your tickets already! I am definitely gonna try persuading the husband to watch it again with me someday.

2) Straw Bag from Ezbuy

Photo from Ezbuy

For July, I've been loving this straw bag that I had purchased from Ezbuy in June. I love how spacious it is so you can really put a lot of things inside yet not feeling any burden to the shoulders because the bag itself is really light weight. I also feel that the length of the strap is perfect as it will land nicely on the side of my stomach. I find myself using this bag almost everyday, matching it with all sorts of outfits. I like how it gives off the summer vibe even though for Singapore, it is summer all year round which also means that you can literally use this bag for the entire year. It is only $6 and I think Ezbuy is the best haha. I'll share the link here in case some of you wanna get it too. 【超低价】韩国草编包夏天小清新简约森系时尚百搭手提女包潮流单肩水桶 TH229 https://m.ezbuy.sg/product/153033087.html https://i.ezbuy.sg/FgMUOcREtgXpdbgFbOCDKwlxJ9tQ You can thank me later. =)

3) Miche Bloomin One Day Colour Contact Lenses

I seldom talk about the Contact Lenses that I use because I've never really found something that I really like until I found these Miche Bloomin 1Day Colour Contact Lenses. I got the 2 boxes from my Japan trip earlier in April and I freaking regretted not get a dozen boxes more. They are so comfortable to wear and literally the easiest to put on as well. I have very dry eyes so I find it very hard for my contact lenses to last more than 6 hours but these Miche Bloomin ones can last me the entire day and I don't feel any discomfort at all when I wear it.

Wearing the Pale Jasmine Colour here
Sadly, they are so hard to get in Singapore and I'm currently trying so hard to get someone to help me out in Airfrov. If you happen to know someone or somewhere that I can get this from, please let me know!

4) Benefits Cheekleaders Pink Squad Palette

If you've read my previous blog post on my Carousell haul, then you would have seen me talking about this palette before. And I really do love it as I found reaching out to this palette so often in July.

The palette comes with two bronzing shades and three blush/highlight shades, with a brush and a big mirror. The only complain I have for this palette is that it is kinda bulky so I don't see myself bringing it around with me even though this palette is sufficient for me to complete a makeup look. I love the brush which is the standard Benefit brush that all their single Blush, Bronzer comes with. I like to use it to contour as it can give me the sharp and specific stroke that I desire.

The pigmentation of this palette is really good and a little goes a long way for each and every shade. I like to use Dandelion as the base blush first before topping it with either Galifornia or Tickle for the extra glow on my cheek bones. The only shade that I don't really reach out for is Dallas as I feel that it is a Bronzer shade that fits darker skin tone more so I still prefer my all time favourite Hoola Bronzer for contour. Well this palette is retailing at $105 but you do get quite a lot of product and I believe it can last you forever so I think it is worth the money.

5) L'Oréal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation

My last favourite of this month is definitely this L'Oréal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation that I've been using everyday unless I was testing new foundation. I love love it sooooo much because it is so lasting on my face. My skin looks flawless after applying yet feeling like second skin at the same time. I love that it stays matte a whole day even though my t zone gets pretty oily throughout the day. It doesn't break me out which is another plus point for me. In fact, I've done a review on this previously when I compared it with the other L'Oréal Infallible Foundation and I thought that this Pro Matee one won hands down. You can refer to my previous post on the comparison that I've done. I really like this Pro Matte Foundation a lot and I think my current tube is finishing soon already. Will definitely repurchase it once I finished it.

And that's all I have for my July's favourites. Let me know what's your favourites in July as well so that I can check them out. I hope you have enjoyed reading my favourites for July. Please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation Review

Hey gorgeous welcome back to my blog!

So recently I've watched many youtubers raving about this certain powder foundation and so I decided to try it out and review it to see if it is really that good. If you are also contemplating of getting the Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation, maybe you can read my review first before deciding. So let's get to the topic!

So what is this powder foundation? It is a mattifying powder foundation that claims to banish blemishes, blur imperfections for a complexion free from visible pores. It is also water resistant and the formula makes it very breathable. Better still, there is a total of 30 shades so there's bound to be a shade for everyone. Sounds great to me but is it worth the $72 I paid for it? Let's find out!

Comes with a big mirror and a sponge

Black metal case
Talking about the packaging, I feel that it is quite minimalist in this matte black metal case and I do like that it doesn't get dirty easily.

The sponge that the foundation comes with has got two different sides, a black spongey side as well as a white cotton-ish side. The black side of the sponge offers high coverage whereas the white side is for a soft veil of powder. In other words, if you are using the powder foundation as your base makeup then use the black side of the sponge for application and if you are using the powder foundation to set your makeup or just for touch up, use the white side of the sponge. I actually quite like the idea of this duo side sponge and I think they are both equally good.

I got the powder foundation in shade Y305 and as you can tell, it's too dark for me. I bought it from Sephora website without actually trying out in the store which was a mistake. So I suggest if you want to buy this, do try it out in the store first before deciding on the shade.

Let's move on to the foundation itself, first impression of the powder is that it's really very velvety smooth. The formula is very light weight and it feels like second skin when I applied on my face. It has a medium coverage and is very buildable if you want an even higher coverage.

This is me after applying to the right side of my face.

After applying the foundation to the right side of my face, my dark eye circle is mostly covered, as well as my acne scars and pores. But I did notice some creases under the eye so I guess you got to moisturise your undereye first before going into this powder foundation. Also, I think this foundation is rather drying so it's better if you go for a moisturising primer before applying the foundation. On the two occasions that I tried this foundation out, I noticed a little peeling of skin on the left side of my cheek which doesn't happen to me usually.

The foundation is very lasting but I did notice that my tzone was slightly shinier than when I first stepped out of the house. In my honest opinion, I think the Maybelline Fit Me Powder Foundation can perform so much better than this Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation and it is so much cheaper too.

So if you are thinking of trying out a powder foundation for the first time, perhaps you can first try out the Maybelline one first that is only retailing at $19.90 before going for this Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation which is retailing at $72.

And that's all I have for this post, I hope you have a good time reading it. Please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Tarte Unleashed Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and First Impression

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

In today's post, I'll be doing a swatch for the latest Tarte Unleashed Eyeshadow Palette and I will be showing 2 eye makeup looks that I had created with this palette so if you're interested to see what looks I've created, keep on scrolling!

Tarte recently launched a brand new Unleashed eye palette which consists of 15 matte and metallic shades. This vegan, vivacious palette is inspired by animal kingdom kweens featuring earthy and tropical tones for fierce, striking looks.

This comes with a travel size Big Ego mascara.

Let's talk about the packaging first, isn't it very vibrant and really pretty in a metal casing?! You don't even have to peek inside the palette to tell that the colours are gonna be very vibrant as well. Only thing I have to complain is that the palette is really heavy so I probably will not be bringing this palette out of house.

I'm totally digging these shades and I feel that you can really come out with many funky yet everyday eye looks. And the names of the shades are really cute and punny too with reference to the animal kingdom. So for example, the matte purple brown shade (last one on the 1st row) is called koalified and the matte mauve shade (2nd one on the 1st row) is called oh deer. How adorable and creative right?!

Gotta say, I am very impressed with the pigmentation of the palette. Just look at the colour pay off I got from one gentle swipe, although I do think that the metallic shades are faring slightly better than the matte ones. Just by swatching, I think my favourite shades are toad-ally (turquoise shimmer), party animal (navy blue sparkle), no fox given (matte burnt orange) and hawkward (pewter sparkle). Like I mentioned earlier, I feel that the shimmer shades are performing much better than matte shades because there was some fall outs when I was using the matte shades but not the shimmer shades. The shimmer shades are more well pressed as compared to the matte shades too. But all in all, I really like the variety of the shades in this palette and I think you can definitely go for an everyday look with the earthy tone shades as well as a funkier look with the more vibrant shades.

So next let's take a look at the 2 eye looks that I have created with this palette!

Everyday Look:

Steps to create this everyday look:

First, I applied Oh deer on my entire lid followed by Koalified on the outer corner of the upper lid bringing it down to the outer half of the lower lid, focusing it near the lower Lash line only. Next, I went for hippocritical and applied it to the centre of my upper lid blending it towards the inner corner and then bringing it down to the lower lid focusing it on the other half of it applying closer to the lash line. Lastly, I used You're lion to brighten up the inner corner and Swan song to highlight the brow bone. And that's the first look I created.

Funky Look:

Steps to create this Funky look:

First, I applied Toucan Do It to the crease and then No Fox Given to the entire lid. After this, make sure you use a crease brush to blend the two shades together before moving on. Then, I went for Iguana Love You and applied it to the outer corner of the upper lid bringing it down to the lower lash line focusing on the outer half. Then I used Party Animal as an eyeliner for the upper lid and Toad-ally as the eyeliner to the inner half of the lower lid. To finish off this look, I blended Hawkward to the centre of the upper lid to add a little shimmer to the whole look. And that completed the funky eye look.

The eye palette also comes with a travel size Big Ego Masacra and it is in the most stunning hot pink colour I have ever seen.

But unfortunately I didn't quite like this mascara as I think it didn't really do much to my lashes. It wasn't volumising nor was it giving me the lengthening effect. Good thing it, it was smudge proof and not clumpy at all but I don't think I'll be purchasing the full size after I am done with this travel size one.

The Tarte Unleashed Palette is retailing at $59 at Sephora and I do think that it is quite a good price for a palette with 15 shades. So what are you waiting for, hurry up and go get it yourself!!! Anyway that's all I have for this post, please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Dress My Baby Bump in Jumpsuits & Slip Dresses

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

In today's post, I'll be sharing another 5 Outifts that I've been loving these past few weeks to dress up my baby bump. If you're curious to see my ootds, keep on scrolling!

1) Cotton On Shirred Jumpsuit in Martha Stripe Blue Haze

Photo taken from Zalora

I am wearing this in size L and I think the length fits me perfectly. I really do love the material as it is made of 100% cotton so it's super soft and comfortable. I also like how it is able to flaunt my baby bump so nicely. So in the above photos, I matched this cute baby blue jumpsuit with a white blazer from The Closet Lover and I love how it gives me the smart casual look. This is definitely an outfit suitable for office as well.

2) Cotton On Woven Jojo Strappy Jumpsuit

Photo taken from Zalora

For the second outfit, I went for a more casual look by matching the jumpsuit with a white tee inside. This second jumpsuit from Cotton On is of a thinner and lighter Chiffon material as compared to the first one that is made of cotton. It is not as soft compared to the first one but it is definitely much more light weight and suitable for Singapore's humid weather. I am wearing this stripe jumpsuit in size L too and length is just nice for me as well. The top part of the jumpsuit is unfortunately not very fitting and the straps are not adjustable as well. This is probably the problem most mummies-to-be is facing, just like me. Most of the time when we do shopping for clothes, we need to size up due to the growing baby bump but our shoulder and arms remain the same size as before so buying clothes can be tricky. That's when I think matching the clothings with a tee shirt inside comes into the picture. Take this jumpsuit for example, the top is too loose for me so to avoid showing off too much unnecessary flesh, I went with a white tee inside and the result was not too bad. So tips for mummy, you may want to try this out for your future ootds.

3) Oversized Checkered Jumpsuit

Pictures credit: ezbuy xiaozhainv store

This third outfit is one of my favourites as the oversized jumpsuit is really comfortable and I think I can still fit it in when I am closer to my due date. I got it from one of my favourite store Xiaozhainv from Ezbuy and I didn't think it would fit me well at first because shopping at Ezbuy is always either a hit or miss. And I think this jumpsuit is definitely a hit. It is made of some woven material that is not stretchable at all. But because of its oversize design, I think it can fit any size. I am a UK 8-10 previously but with my bump, I have to size up to uk12 nowadays and this still fits me loosely. I matched it with a black top inside, just like the model did in the modelled picture from the website. This is definitely an effortlessly chic everyday outfit in my opinion. If you're keen to get this too, here's the link for you. french overalls female handsome hip-hop summer korean style straight barrel hundred mesh red lattice strap wide-legged pants foreign gas tide https://m.ezbuy.sg/product/245019526?src=Background https://m.ezbuy.sg/product/245019526?src=Background

4) Cotton On Woven Leni Frill Hem Dress

Picture from Cotton On

The last 2 clothings that I'll be sharing are both slip dresses and this one is a mini dress in blue and red leopard prints. I love the colour combination of this dress because it looks so vibrant as a whole. I think wearing a tee inside the dress made me look younger and less matured as compared to wearing it on its own. I like how the dress is flowy and light yet it's not sheer at all. I am wearing size L for this and it fits me perfectly at the bump and the hip.

5) Cotton On Leopard Print Maxi Slit Dress

The last clothing here is a maxi slip dress in leopard prints and it is also from Cotton On. As you can tell from the photo above, my baby bump is very obvious here and that's because it was a Size M so it's quite figure hugging to be honest. I got this dress sometime last year before I realised I was pregnant and I was surprised I can still fit in despite it being super figure hugging but I still managed to wear it with a black top inside. I feel that this dress is very classy and glamorous and you definitely can wear it to attend special occasions such as weddings or even parties.

Alright so that's all I have for this post. I hope you have enjoyed reading it. Please follow me if you havent already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Mini Miniso Haul & What's Worth Buying

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

I had recently done a mini shopping haul at Miniso and I thought I should share with you guys what I've bought and whether I think they are worth buying or not so if you're curious to see my purchases, keep on reading!

1) Galaxy Series Limited Edition Scent Diffuser

This was the very item that lured me into the Miniso store because it looked so prettaye. Totally in love with the baby pink packaging topped with gold flecks and cap and it instantly beautifies any space. I had previously bought another diffuser from Miniso as well for my office and I remembered all my colleagues loved the scent and it actually lasted quite long. In fact it lasted longer than the Hysses scent diffuser that my other colleague bought and my diffuser only cost me $9.90 lol. So this Galaxy Series scent diffuser is also retailing at $9.90 and it has a very nice masculine scent to it which my husband really likes so it ended up in the study room instead 😂
For just $9.90, I think this is definitely a good buy and it's really pretty.

2) Sunshine Water Based Peel Off Nail Polish

Got them in shade Orange Red (right) and Light Brown (left)
The applicator is quite small and narrow so it's harder to apply especially since my nails are really short and small.

Pardon for the lousy work done here

I actually really like the Light Brown polish in terms of its shade as well as formula. The two polishes definitely has got different formula in my opinion. The Light Brown one is creamier and thicker as compared to the Orange Red which is very watery hence making it even harder to apply on the nails.

And since it's a peel off polish, I had to test it out (with the colour I didn't quite like 😏). It did peel off quite easily and in one piece so I guess these polishes are not too bad and they are retailing at $3.90 for 2 colours so if you do your math, it's about $1.95 per bottle. Pretty affordable right.

3) Dry Hair Glove

This is how it looks like when worn
Okay guys, this is probably the worst purchase in this haul. When I saw it in the store, I thought it's kinda cool and since it's pink in colour, I just thought maybe I could try it out. Although it's only retailing at $3.90, and I sort of knew it wasn't gonna be fantastic but still I was somewhat disappointed with it. So I tested it once after shampooing my hair and guess what, I took 15 minutes longer than usual to dry my hair. And my hair was still wet after trying to wipe it with the gloves for a good 15 minutes. So I went back to the packaging to read the instructions coz I was thinking maybe I wasn't using it the right way. Guess what, instructions told me to use with a hair dryer for best result. 😑 Honestly, I could have just gone straight to the hair dryer if that's the case right? Miniso, you gotta be kidding. This is totally just a gimmick so folks, please do not ever purchase it. You can get a cup of bubble tea for $3.90 instead.

4) Multi Purpose Cotton Pads

If you have read my first few blog posts, then you should probably know that my all time favourite cotton pad is the Daiso ones and they are only $2 for a total of 200 pads. But when I saw this at Miniso, I thought they looked really comfortable and it was in a resealable package so it can save me the hassle to find a box to put the pads in like I did for the Daiso ones.

And honestly, I think I finally found a replacement for the Daiso cotton pads. This Miniso cotton pads are thicker and softer than the Daiso ones. They are made of 100% cotton which is why they are so comfortable and soft. I love to use them with my toner and I can rub them on my face without feeling any discomfort. The Daiso ones on the other hand is much rougher than this Miniso one. I will definitely repurchase it once I run out of it. This packet of Miniso cotton pads is retailing at $4.90.

5) Body & Breast Beauty Collateral Brush

Okay the fifth item was something I bought thinking I might probably need after giving birth to induce my milk supply for breast feeding. I am sure it doesn't work that way because when I was reading the introduction at the back of the packaging, this brush uses the acupoints and collaterals to make your breasts reappear its former beauty. By pressing dorsal acupoints, blood flows to your breast, together with various nutrients so that the breast is enlarged after absorbing the nutrients. Sounds very much like a gimmick too but I can only test it out after giving birth. Rest assured that I'll definitely update the reviews on my ig story in the near future haha.

6) Dot Pattern Paper Board Mirror

Next is another item that I purchased because of its packaging. When I saw this mirror on display, I thought it will look so good in my flat lay pictures. I can picture myself using it as a background for lipsticks or eyeshadow palettes swatches. Also, I like how compact it is because it is literally a cupboard when you unfold it.

Once you fold it up, it is a big ass mirror with a very stable base. This mirror is retailing at $3.90 and I think it is totally worth every penny.

7) Droplet Hair Detangling Brush

The next item is like a dupe for the Tangle Teezer Original Hairbrush and they literally have the same benefits and that is to efficiently detangle your hair leaving it knot free and smooth. To be honest, my hair is usually smooth and knot free so I am not the best person to review if this Miniso hairbrush is as good as the Tangle Teezer but one thing for sure is that it can be used as a mirror as well haha. Oh and by the way, the bristles of this brush is really soft so you can use it as hard and rough on your scalp and it will not hurt the scalp. This brush is retailing at $3.90 which is one tenth of the price of the Tangle Teezer and that's awesome.

8) Energy of Fruits Hand Cream (Lemon & Avocado)

Next is the hand cream duo that I purchased at $3.90 for two. There are other flavours as well such as Pineapple, Kiwi, Orange and Strawberry but I ended up choosing the Lemon and Avocado one. And to be honest, I don't know why they even bother doing different flavours because they don't even smell like the fruits they are named after. The lemon smells more like a dishwasher liquid and the avocado one smells like borderline Bygone. I don't know if it's because pregnant ladies tend to be more sensitive to smell because my husband actually likes the hand cream fragrance.

Very creamy and easily absorbed
Anyway, aside from the smell, I think the hand cream is quite moisturising and not too greasy so I think it's quite worth the money after all.

9) Steam Eye Mask

This steam eye mask very much works the same as the Biore one but it caused me headache after putting it on! The introduction says that it will heat up to 40 deg Celsius once I put it on but I felt that the warmth is much higher than 40 deg celcius. It's to the extent I cannot take the heat and it's making me very uncomfortable. I have tried the Biore one previously and I remember liking it but this Miniso one is really very bad. It's honestly way too hot so I definitely will not recommend anyone buying this even though it really does look cute with the We Bare Bears eyes. But no, please don't torture your eyes by spending $4.90 on these masks.

10) Joie Portable Perfume 03 in Under the Pear Tree

If you have ever stepped into Miniso then you would have noticed that they have a wide range of perfume and I always wanted to try their perfume and I finally purchased one after testing all the fragrances in the store. I got the portable series one because truth is, I didn't think that these Miniso fragrances will last whole day so I thought buying the portable one makes more sense since I can bring it around and spray more if I need to. The one that I chose was called Under The Pear Tree (don't ask me how they decide on the name) and the main notes are Wood Pear, Freesia and Snow Pear. This actually smells really good and it reminds me of my Dkny Be Delicious Fresh Blossom EDP even though they have very different notes. But like I said, the fragrance didn't last too long on my body (about 1 hour) and I had to spray more throughout the day.

This portable perfume is easy to bring around as it looks pretty much like any rollerball perfume. It is retailing at $4.90 and I think it's quite a reasonable price for a nice fragrance.

11) Makeup Sponge

The second last item in this haul is this box of makeup sponges and they are in different bright colours which was why it caught my attention.

They are all in this hexagon shape
I have tried and tested it once and I think this makeup sponge works better when you wet it. When it was all dry, the sponge was kinda rough and hard on the skin but once I wet it, it became much softer so I felt that this sponge wasn't too bad. I believe it's retailing at $4.90 per box and I think it's something I can live without so I probably will not be repurchasing it if I run out of it. I still prefer the Rosy Rosa makeup sponge or the Daiso Makeup Sponge in wedge.

12) 3 in 1 Eyebrow Pencil + Eyebrow Powder + Eyeliner in Dark Brown

I have saved my best purchase from this haul to the last and it's this 3 in 1 Eyebrow and eyeliner pencil. O-M-G this product is sooooo good! I didn't have much expectation for this to be honest so I was totally blown away by its result when I tested it.

Eyebrow pencil

Colour pigmentation is really good when swatched on hand

Firstly, the Eyebrow pencil is really very pigmented and it glides so smoothly both on my hand and my brow. It is very thin so you draw a very precise brow with it.

Eyebrow Powder

Colour pigmentation is equally good
Finished drawing my brow with the Eyebrow pencil and powder
Eyeliner pencil

Glides smoothly on the hand and it dries down quickly to a matte black
The eyeliner was what amazed me the most. It is so easy to apply as it glides so smoothly both on hand and on the lid. The eyeliner also dries down very quickly and I also like how thin the tip is so I can draw a fine line close to my lash line.

The eyeliner is smudge proof even for oily lids like mine and I noticed that even after a whole day, the eyeliner still looks the same as when I first applied. The only thing that I didn't quite like was that it really is very black which made me look a little fierce but the formula is amazing and I highly recommend everyone to get this 3 in 1 pencil which is retailing at $5.90 only.

One final honorable mention is this Marvel Mug that le husband bought.

This Marvel Mug comes in 2 colours, red and black and my husband chose this red one because he said this is the Marvel colour. The mug retailing at $3.90 and what he likes the most is it's microwave friendly.

So that's all I have for this mini Miniso Haul. All in all, I am quite satisfied with my purchases especially the 3 in 1 Eyebrow pencil, powder and eyeliner. I am probably gonna try out more of their makeup products and see if they are equally good. Let me know if you will keen to see me doing makeup products review from Miniso. I hope you've enjoyed reading this post. Please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.
