Trying Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer - First Impression + Wear Test

So in today's post, I'll be trying out the Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer, giving you my first impression of it as well as my review after the wear test. If you are keen to find out more, keep on reading!

The Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer claims to be a true 2-in-1 must have tool for a flawless complexion under any circumstances. It can be used as a foundation to even out the complexion or as a concealer to cover undereye circles and other imperfections. I was really intrigued by the claims because it did sound like a very handy and convenient foundation to me. Moreover it also claims to give a semi matte finish which is what a combination oily skin type person like me is looking for.

I chose shade 20 cream (the third lightest shade in the range) which has a warm under tone and it matches my skin tone perfectly. It has a creamy texture and it glides smoothly on the skin making it easy to blend and apply.

A little goes a very long way for this stick foundation. The coverage of this foundation is really good as it was able to conceal the acne I had on the right side of my face as well as my dark circle with just one thin layer of the product. It did however feel a little heavy on the skin but with that high amount of coverage, I was able to look past that. It also did not feel tacky at all and that meant I didn't have to set my face with any setting powder. I feel that this can be a good foundation if you have very oily skin because it is a little drying in my opinion and I noticed that the foundation did not sit well on the area around my lips which happens to be the dryest part of my face. In fact, the skin around the lips started peeling off few minutes after I applied the foundation. So if you have very dry skin, I would suggest to avoid this foundation at all cost.

Since the foundation claims to act as a concealer as well, I went ahead to put on a second layer, targeting only on the areas that I wanted to conceal, i.e. my dark circle and acne. The foundation is very buildable as I was able to blend out the second layer easily and the coverage improved a little more. However I noticed that the product set into my undereye fine lines as I was trying to blend it out and the second layer looked a little more drying than the first. Overall, it did give a matte finish and my face felt really smooth so I really kinda like it.

As for the wear test result, after a good ten hours of wearing the Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer, my face looked exactly like when I first put on makeup ten hours ago. No shine on my face, except a little bit on the nose but otherwise it is very good at controlling oil. There was no cakeyness on the face at all too and the coverage was still as high. Got to say I am really impressed with this stick foundation as it turns out to be a very long lasting one. This stick foundation is retailing at $26 which I think is pretty affordable considering that other foundations retailing at Sephora are way more expensive and guess what, black Friday sale is just around the corner so hurry up and take this opportunity to try new foundation! If you have oily skin, then do consider getting this Sephora Collection stick foundation for that flawless, matte look.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream First Impression + Wear Test

I've recently saw some Youtuber raving about the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream and how this is her holy grail so I've decided to give it a try! So if you are curious to see how this BB cream works on me, keep on reading!

The Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream claims to offer a novel skincare concept with BB Cream, which lightens skin tone by healing visible wrinkles and blemishes with excellent skin cover ability and prevents skin aging through effective whitening and anti wrinkle properties.

I like that the BB Cream comes in a tube with a pump but when you first use it, you got to pump a few times before product comes out as I think the tube is half filled with air.

I got mine in the shade #21 as this is my usual shade when it comes to Korean Beauty product and it suits me perfectly. The texture of this BB cream is very creamy and easy to apply.

This Missha BB Cream has a medium coverage and it is definitely buildable. I personally prefer applying the makeup with just my finger because I think the coverage is slightly higher when I do so as compared to when I applied it with a makeup sponge. One thing I don't quite like is that the BB Cream tends to set into my fine lines, especially under the eye. I like that it has a natural yet dewy finish and it gives off a subtle glow. Much to my surprise, even though the finish is slightly dewy, the BB Cream manages to control oil pretty well and my face remains shine free at the t-zone area the whole day.

Overall I am really impressed with this Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream because I feel like it can be a good everyday foundation which gives the My Skin But Better vibe. The coverage is pretty decent as its name suggested and it is definitely buildable. Also, it is suitable for every skin types in my opinion so if you have got oily skin like me, don't be afraid of its dewyness when you first applied it because it will not get any more dewy through the day. A thumbs up from me for this Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream!

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Mattifying Primer & Hydrating Longwear Foundation First Impression + Wear Test

In today's post, I'll be doing a first impression and wear test on the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation that she recently released. I have oily skin so I would usually prefer a matte foundation but today I'm gonna try out this hydrating foundation and see if it suits oily skin as well. On top of that, I'll be using it with the mattifying primer on one side of the face and see if it's worth buying. If you are curious to see the results, keep on reading!

So to prep the skin for foundation, I'm using the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Mattifying Primer on the left side of my face. It claims to be the next level mattifying primer for combination to oily skin that works instantly to deliver maximum all day shine control while improving and extending foundation wear.

The primer has a lightweight, almost gel-like texture and it absorbs easily into the skin. It has the Fenty smell, if you know what I mean and I like the smell. It is not tinted so it melts into nothing but my own skin colour and it feels so smooth on the skin. And a little goes a very long way for this primer, all you need is a small pump for the entire face. This is little bottle is retailing at $48 in Sephora and I'll compare it with my recent Catrice purchase Keep Me Matt primer and see if it does the same job.

So on the right side of my face, I am gonna use the Catrice Keep Me Matt primer and see how the two primers fare after a whole day. Do keep reading to see the wear test results at the end of the blog. Next let's move on to the star of the post, the new Hydrating Longwear Foundation.

The new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation claims to be the first of its kind hydrating longwear foundation that delivers it all, with comfortable medium to full coverage. It has a serious staying power and a natural finish that comes in 50 different shades. It is created with Grape Seed Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate to give skin the nourishing hydration it needs to stay comfortable all day.

I got mine in shade 200 and I think it's a perfect match for my skin tone. The packaging is really cute and it comes in a tube with a pump which is very convenient. It has a watery consistency and blends so well. I like that it is not drying and yet it is not overly dewy like I thought it would be.

With just a tiny pump, I was able to conceal at least 80% of my dark circles so I would definitely agree that this foundation has a medium to full coverage that is buildable.
It is not tacky at all so I didn't even have to set it down with a powder. I like that it feels so smooth on the skin and it has the natural finish that I am into. So I got to say, I have got a pretty good first impression of this foundation and I can't wait to see how my makeup will look after a full day.

The side with Catrice Keep Me Matt Primer

After a good twelve hours, my makeup looked exactly the same like how it was twelve hours ago except for the nose which looked a little shiny and the makeup seemed to have worn off a little around the nose but I had a little runny nose and was rubbing my nose so I guessed that was why the makeup didn't quite last there. Overall, the makeup stayed on very well with no extra shine and my face felt really hydrated the whole day and I definitely did not notice any difference between the Pro Filt'r Mattifying Primer and the Catrice Keep Me Matt Primer. I think both of them serve the same purpose and do their job pretty well. And if I have to choose, I think I can survive with just the Catrice one because it is much more affordable.

Overall I really like the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation, which is to my surprise since I have oily skin but it does not make my face look greasy or over hydrated at all even after 12 hours. I like the natural finish and the coverage that it offers. This is definitely a good foundation for all skin types and I highly recommend it. As for the primer, you can give it a miss because there're better ones out there with cheaper price tags.

Tatcha The Skin Canvas Primer Review

In today's post, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Tatcha The Skin Canvas Primer, whether it's worth splurging money on or not. I've seen many youtubers raving about this primer and I was really intrigued by the flawless finish the product claims to give. So if you are keen to find out more, keep on reading!

 So what is this Silk Canvas Primer? It is actually a priming balm with pressed silk that smoothes and preserves the look of makeup. It claims to not only protect the skin but also seals the look of makeup for the entire day. It nourishes skin as it is applied and aims to reduce shine for a matte finish. And as a result makeup can be applied to oil free skin, giving it a greater chance to last throught the day and night. It is also said to be able to blur the looks of pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone, colour correcting with an universal shade for a healthy, soft focus glow. It is also anti-sagging because of its Japanese Superfood ingredients which helps to restore youthful radiance. Last but not least, it is said to be suitable for all skin types. Doesn't these claims sound soooo amazing and makes you wanna try it out even though it is retailing at $72 (that's expensive for a primer).

Okay back to the product itself, I like the premium looking packaging that the primer comes in. In fact, I think Tatcha aced all their products packaging as they all look so classy in the standard one colour look. When I saw the product itself, it reminded me a lot of my lip balms and the texture of it is very balmy and buttery, which I like.

Too much product

When I first tried it, I took too much product and my face almost felt moderate oily so I quickly wiped it off my face and went with a smaller amount. In fact, all you need is a rice size amount for the entire face. So even though this primer is really pricey, but a little goes a very long way for it and I believe one tub can last a few months or even half a year, if you are very careful with the amount used.

Decided to try the Silk Canvas on my left face and the Maybelline Pore Eraser on my right side to see the difference. Honestly, in terms of blurring pores, I think they are both as good. As for the blurring of fine lines, since I do not have fine lines on my face, I cannot vouch that the Silk Canvas is doing its job here but what I did notice was that the redness on my left face was immediately corrected. I can hardly see any uneven tone on my left face after applying the small amount of Silk Canvas whereas I can still see redness on my right face. Also, my left face was obviously much brighter and more glowy looking as compared to the right side which looked more dull.

The very next day, I tried the Silk Canvas Primer on my entire face and the result was even better. My face felt so smooth and evenly toned and in fact, I could hardly see the redness of my acne scar on my right side. And because of its silkiness on the skin, applying makeup on the face became so much easier and fuss free.

I love that this Silk Canvas gives a matte finish but it is also not drying so your skin doesn't feel dry or dehydrated throughout the day which is good because that means both oily skin and dry skin will be suitable for this primer. I love how my face feels and looks so flawless for the entire day with this Silk Canvas Primer and I think even an ant will not be able to crawl onto my face because it is that smooth.

For the few times that I used this Silk Canvas Primer, my makeup lasted the entire day (and by that I meant more than 10 hours). In fact, the face looked exactly how it looked like when I first applied on the makeup. It remained shine free even though I have oily skin especially on the t zone area but my face gave off a very natural glow that looked so healthy and definitely not greasy.

So if I have to give an honest opinion for this Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer, I would say that I cannot find any reason to dislike this primer (except for the price) but like I said earlier, you only need a very tiny amount each time so it really can last you quite a long while. It really makes my skin looks so flawless like a doll and shine free throughout the day so I definitely will highly recommend this to all of you reading this post (I know it's pricey but I'm sorry it's really good).

Tutorial: Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Eyeshadow Palette

In today's post, I'll be doing a tutorial on the Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Eyeshadow Palette which I've been eyeing for the longest time ever. We all know that Natasha Denona's eyeshadow palettes are so so so damn expensive and I thought it's good to start off with her mini eyeshadow palette first. So if you have this palette at home and you've no idea how to do an eyelook with it, keep on reading!

Let's take a look at its packaging first. It's definitely very small and handy and travel friendly. I love the white packaging because it is very minimal but it does get dirty very easily as well.

The shades in this Mini Sunset Eyeshadow Palette are mainly warm toned neutrals and I think they are quite suitable for the upcoming fall season. Just by looking at the swatches, I think my favourite shade in this palette has got to be Apollo because it is very pigmented and the warm dark pink shade with shimmer is totally right up my alley. I do find that the shimmer shades are slightly more pigmented than the matte shades and lesser fall outs as well.

So let's move on to the tutorial on how I create the look in the photo below.

Firstly, I applied the Guava shade to my crease, bringing it up to my brow bone. Then to add more dimension to the crease, I buffed in a little of the Dirty Mars shade into the outer crease. When my crease was done, I went into the shade Apollo and applied it to my lids, focusing on the outer and inner corner, then slowly blend it out towards the centre. Then with the same Apollo shade, I applied it to my lower lash line as well. When I was done with Apollo, I took Halo on my finger and focused it on the centre of my upper eyelid, blending it up towards the crease. Lastly, I took the shade Sun Beam and blended it onto my lower lash line, directly on top of the Apollo shade to add more dimension. And you got your fall perfect eye look done.

All in all, I really like this Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Eyeshadow Palette and I think i will be getting the Mini Nude Palette as well since it is another palette that's highly raved. Trying The Stamp It Wing Eyeliner Craze - Is It A Gimmick?

So in today's post, I will be trying the latest Stamp It Wing Eyeliner Craze because I've seen it all over social media these days and I was really intrigued by the convenience of it. If you are interested to see how this works, keep on reading!

While I was scrolling through Zalora, the Australis Stamp It! Double Ended Eyeliner & Winged Stamp caught my eye because the retail price ($16.90) is considerably cheap as compared to the other brand like The  Feisty Chick that is so popular on social media these days. Zalora was also having a 20% storewide sale on beauty products so I ended up carting this stamped liner out to give it a try.

The Eyeliner claims to offer a long lasting, smudge and waterproof formula that delivers an intense black finish.

When I was swatching the eyeliner on my hand, to be honest, I was very turn off by the thickness of the stamp as well as the felt tip. There is no way to make the liner thin (like my usual style) but I guess that's the purpose of doing a winged look because you want your eye makeup to be as dramatic as possible. It is however what it claims to be, intense black, smudge proof and waterproof. I had it on for a good 10 hours and there was totally no smudging or any unsightly movement of the eyeliner at all and I think this is definitely a plus point because for people with very oily lids like me, you can put this on safely without worrying that you will look like a panda through the day. I had quite a hard time drawing the line though as it didn't glide smoothly on the lids and the line looked choppy and uneven at first. So because of this, I don't think I will reach for the felt tip eyeliner anymore.

So question is, do I think that this is worth buying or is it just a gimmick? Well in my most honest opinion, I think you don't really need this in your life. Because it is not as easy to use as it seems to be. In order to perfect the wing, you gotta make sure you stamp both sides at the same position and angle and that's not an easy task. Practice and patience make perfect but if you are in a hurry, then don't bother using this. For the time I spent trying to perfect both wings, I could have already drawn it with my usual eyeliners. NEW Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation First Impression + Wear Test

In today's post, I'll be doing another foundation first impression as well as wear test and the foundation I'll be reviewing is the new Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation. I've read many negative reviews on this foundation online so I got really curious and I really wanna find out if it's really that bad. If you are curious like me, keep on reading!

First and foremost, let's find out what this Urban Decay foundation claims to be. On the Sephora website, this Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation claims to be a 24hr long wear liquid foundation that gives not only a real-skin matte finish, but it even looks better with its stay-true colour, which minimises the appearance of pores and does not transfer. It also claims to feel like second skin, all thanks to its breathable and flexible formula that moves with you. Well it sounds pretty good to me and since it gives a matte finish, I think it is perhaps a good foundation for oily skin.

So let's take a look at the packaging first. I must say, I kinda like the sleek bottle packaging that this foundation comes in. It also comes with a pump and a rose gold cap which gives it a classy look. The only thing is, fingerprints get stained on the cap very easily thus you've got to wipe it after every use.

As for the shade, Sephora has a guide to the shade selection on its website as per the photo below.

I got mine in the shade 20CP, 20 being the lightest shade, in cool pink tone. Like I mentioned in my precious foundation review posts, I prefer foundation with cool pink undertone because as an Asian, I already have yellowish skin tone so I prefer pink undertone foundation to brighten my skin tone instead. 

The shade is slightly lighter than my original skin colour but with oxidation and bronzer, this will work. The foundation has a very watery consistency which is what attributes to its weightlessness I guess. But to my surprise, even though it is very watery, it also dries up really quickly. For this foundation, you really got to work it slowly, a little amount at a time to prevent it from drying.

As for the coverage, I think it does have a pretty good coverage. With just a small pump, I was able to cover 70% of my dark circles as well as my acne scars.

The coverage is very buildable as well so after putting on another layer of the foundation, my dark circles are almost 100% covered. It does have a skin like finish and I would say it is slightly tacky so this is definitely a foundation that requires to set.

After 12 hours:

The longevity of the foundation is pretty impressive. Most of my foundation stayed intact after 12 hours of wearing it and I didn't notice any shine or oiliness on my face except for the nose which was a little shinier on the tip and it did seem like such of the foundation was gone already. But the rest of the face still looked as good so I am pretty impressed with this foundation.

All in all, I think this new Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation is a good foundation if you have oily skin because it is honestly quite drying and it does have a pretty matte, skin like finish. The coverage is in my opinion, medium to high and the longevity of the foundation is good, if you have oily skin. But if you have dry skin and would still like to give this foundation a try, I would suggest that you use a very foot moisturising primer before going into this foundation. And do remember to work it slowly on your face because it really dries up quickly.
