Trying Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer - First Impression + Wear Test

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

So in today's post, I'll be trying out the Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer, giving you my first impression of it as well as my review after the wear test. If you are keen to find out more, keep on reading!

The Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer claims to be a true 2-in-1 must have tool for a flawless complexion under any circumstances. It can be used as a foundation to even out the complexion or as a concealer to cover undereye circles and other imperfections. I was really intrigued by the claims because it did sound like a very handy and convenient foundation to me. Moreover it also claims to give a semi matte finish which is what a combination oily skin type person like me is looking for.

I chose shade 20 cream (the third lightest shade in the range) which has a warm under tone and it matches my skin tone perfectly. It has a creamy texture and it glides smoothly on the skin making it easy to blend and apply.

Bare face look

Right side done with one layer of the foundation

A little goes a very long way for this stick foundation. The coverage of this foundation is really good as it was able to conceal the acne I had on the right side of my face as well as my dark circle with just one thin layer of the product. It did however feel a little heavy on the skin but with that high amount of coverage, I was able to look past that. It also did not feel tacky at all and that meant I didn't have to set my face with any setting powder. I feel that this can be a good foundation if you have very oily skin because it is a little drying in my opinion and I noticed that the foundation did not sit well on the area around my lips which happens to be the dryest part of my face. In fact, the skin around the lips started peeling off few minutes after I applied the foundation. So if you have very dry skin, I would suggest to avoid this foundation at all cost.

Since the foundation claims to act as a concealer as well, I went ahead to put on a second layer, targeting only on the areas that I wanted to conceal, i.e. my dark circle and acne. The foundation is very buildable as I was able to blend out the second layer easily and the coverage improved a little more. However I noticed that the product set into my undereye fine lines as I was trying to blend it out and the second layer looked a little more drying than the first. Overall, it did give a matte finish and my face felt really smooth so I really kinda like it.

As for the wear test result, after a good ten hours of wearing the Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Stick Foundation & Concealer, my face looked exactly like when I first put on makeup ten hours ago. No shine on my face, except a little bit on the nose but otherwise it is very good at controlling oil. There was no cakeyness on the face at all too and the coverage was still as high. Got to say I am really impressed with this stick foundation as it turns out to be a very long lasting one. This stick foundation is retailing at $26 which I think is pretty affordable considering that other foundations retailing at Sephora are way more expensive and guess what, black Friday sale is just around the corner so hurry up and take this opportunity to try new foundation! If you have oily skin, then do consider getting this Sephora Collection stick foundation for that flawless, matte look.

And that's all I have for this post. I hope you've enjoyed reading it. Please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Trying 16 Brand by Cho Sung Ah

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

In today's post, I'll be trying out the Korean beauty brand 16 Brand because I was really intrigued by their eye magazine #quick&easy eyeshadow that seems so easy to apply and idiot-proof. If you have been eyeing this brand too and would like to see how it fares, keep on scrolling!

So I have a total of 3 products to test out and the first being the sixteen filter shot contour powder in the shade shading almond.

First and foremost, I really want to compliment this packaging because it is so girly and cutesy in pink and just by looking at it makes me really wanna reach out for it. The contour powder on the other hand did not wow me at all. The pigmentation is alright, texture is smooth and you can tell that the powder is finely milled but I find that the shade is a little off for me. The upper shade is too light and close to my skin tone whereas the lower shade is a tad too dark for me. The only shade that is wearable is the middle one but honestly I find it too hard to reach for without touching the other shades. Would I recommend this filter shot contour? Probably not.

How the contour looks like on face
After applying the contour, it's time for blusher and I also got the 16brand 16 cheek shot blushers to try out.

Again, the packagings are on point in the sweetest pastel coloured boxes.

I got myself 3 shades, Peach Foam Shot (peachy pink tone), Milk Tea Shot (rosey pink tone) and Apricot Shot (Coral Pink tone). Like the contour powder, the blushers are also finely milled and the colour pigmentation is fantastic. I also like that the blusher can be easily blended out. The shades in my opinion are very wearable on a daily basis and my personal favourite is the Peach Foam Shot which is the one I'm wearing in the photo below as it gives me a very natural healthy looking glow. Highly recommending these 16 cheek shots from this 16brand!

Last but definitely not the least, is the 16brand eye magazine that inspired me to do this post. You may be wondering why the name eye magazine but when you see the packaging, everything will make sense.

The eyeshadow is placed in a box that looks just like a magazine and when you flip it open, the eyeshadow is right inside. I really like this creative concept but it does seem a little bulky to bring around so I guess most people would just leave the "magazine" at home and just bring the otherwise small and compact eyeshadow out.

The shade I got is "everyday" and I think it looks exactly like how it is named, an everyday shade to me. So the eyeshadow consists of 2 shades, a matte dark brown as well as a shimmery champagne shade. The colour pay off for the dark brown shade is really good but not for the shimmer shade and I did experience some fall-outs for the shimmer shade as well.
So for this eyeshadow, all you have to do is to take the brush provided and swipe it across the eyeshadows, making sure that you get the 2 shades on it and then apply it directly on your eyelids with the darker shade on the bottom and the lighter shade on top.

It should look something like this once you're done
I feel that this eyeshadow is perfect for those who are new to applying eyeshadow because it is foolproof and really easy to apply. What I don't really like is that because it only has 2 shades, the eye look that you get from it does not have much dimension to it but if you're only looking for an everyday eyeshadow that is simple and fuss free, definitely try this out.

So all in all, I think 16brand is really cute and girly because of their products' packaging and I think this alone would have won many young ladies' hearts out there. Personally I really like the cheek shot blushers because the shades are what I would wear on a daily basis and the powders are of very good quality. I would probably give the filter shot contour a miss because the shades just do not work for me. As for the eye magazine eyeshadows, I really like the packaging and I think i will still purchase just for the packaging itself. As for the shades, I would not recommend the "everyday" shade that I've gotten because the colour pay off for the lighter shade is pretty bad and if I have to go through the light shade again and again just to create the simple eye look, then I think there is no reason to get it since it is no longer that easy to apply.

Anyway that's all I have for this post. I hope you have enjoyed reading it. Please follow me if you have not already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

My Top 3 Favourite Drugstore Facial Cleansers

Hey gorgeous, welcome back to my blog!

In today's post, I'll be sharing my top 3 favourite drugstore facial cleansers which I've been using on an everyday basis. If you're curious to see which are my favourite cleansers, keep on reading!

1) Senka Perfect Whip

My ultimate go-to drugstore facial cleanser is the Senka Perfect Whip and I am already into my 5th tube of it so that shows how much I like it. This Senka Perfect Whip claims to be a cleansing foam that is so gentle on the skin and yet thorough in cleansing our pores. It also protects the moisture barrier that our skin already possess. Its key ingredients are hyaluronic acid and citric acid which helps promote a healthier and more supple skin. It is also said to be suitable for all skin types. So what I like about it is that it lathers up easily and all I need is a pea sized amount for a full face cleansing. It doesn't come with a strong smell which is also what I prefer. I also like that my face feels clean and not dry after cleansing. In my opinion, this is definitely a good everyday cleanser because it is really gentle on the skin and my face feels so smooth after every wash.

2) Hada Labo AHA+BHA Mild Exfoliating Face Wash

On days when I have to put on more makeup and that my pores are clogged, I will reach out for the Hada Labo Aha + Bha Mild Exfoliating Face Wash as it is able to gently remove the impurities that are trapped within my pores, purifying them to regain skin freshness and vitality. AHA also known as alpha hydroxy acids and BHA also known as beta hydroxy acids both help to break the bonds holding dull, dead skin on the surface. Once those bonds are broken, skin naturally sheds its spent cells making your skin feels alot smoother and looks alot younger. I love how my face always feel so smooth and clean after washing with this and I do notice that my face has lesser breakouts ever since I started using this face wash. Therefore I highly recommend this face wash to those who has to wear thick makeup every other day as it does a very good job unclogging the pores.

3) Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser

My last favourite drugstore cleanser is the Salicylic Acid Gentle Cleanser from Cosrx and I especially like to use it when I have the occasional breakouts. This face wash claims to help reduce breakouts and promotes clear skin. It gently removes impurities and excess sebum while fighting pimples and blemishes, leaving skin soft and smooth without the stripping feeling. I love how this cleanser is able to soothe the redness on my skin whenever I have breakouts and I do realise that the pimples dry out really fast and disappear within a few days. It is really gentle on the skin and it lathers up quickly. Definitely suitable for all skin types and more so if you are acne prone.

And that's all I have for this post. Let me know what's your favourite facial cleanser and I would love to try it out too! Please follow me if you haven't already and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.
