Thrift My Outfit: Episode Two

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

So in today's post, I'll be doing another episode of Thrift My Outfits where I will show you five outfits that I got at ridiculously cheap prices that you won't believe until you see it for yourself. If you are interested to find out more, then keep on scrolling down.

First Outfit: Off Shoulder Buttoned Down Dress In Burnt Orange

This dress caught my eyes because of the colour as I did not own any apparel in this shade before this. It is made of a comfortable cotton material and totally non-sheer so you need worry even if you do not have a habit of wearing safety shorts underneath. The length was just nice for me and I love that the off shoulder is made so perfect that every time I raised my arms, the top stayed in place instead of going up above the shoulder. Do note that the buttons are fake but this is perfectly fine for me as I can save the hassle of buttoning it up.

How much: $13.75

Second Outfit: Navy Floral Maxi Dress

This is probably my favourite outfit from this post as I totally adore how feminine this dress looks. I love the elasticised waist as it allows me to eat as much as I can whenever I am decked in this dress. It is made of a satin material so it feels so smooth on the skin. Honestly, it looks much more expensive than it costs and I feel like this is definitely so value for money.

How much: $15

Third Outfit: Polka Dot Top with Black Culottes

The polka dot top here is made of chiffon material hence it's not stretchy at all. Thank goodness it fits me alright. Love the small details of this top such as the high collar, the puffy sleeves and the ribbon at the back.

How much: $11.57

The bottom that I was wearing was a pair of culottes I got from Giordano and it's definitely one of the easiest bottom to mix and match to pull off the simple and chic look.

How much: $15
Where i got it: Expo Sale

Fourth Outfit: White off shoulder top with stripes culottes

This entire outfit is from Lucky Plaza flea market, which is one of my favourite go-to places for some cheap thrills. The white off shoulder top is from Pomelo Fashion and I love how it looks knitted on the outside yet lined with satin material on the inside so it is super comfortable to wear. I am wearing a size S/M and it is the perfect fit for me.

How much: $2
Where I got it: Lucky Plaza Flea

Another pair of culottes that I have been raving about in July is this pair in stripes and pleats. It is made of the most comfortable material ever and so lightweight that it almost felt like I wasn’t wearing anything.

How much: $2

Final Outfit: Buttoned Down Black Dress

In my opinion, this dress screams summer and it is the perfect dress when you are too lazy to think of what to wear yet you wanna look as chic as possible. I love the button details and it is the summer trend now so you can find it in every major department store in the market.

How much: $13.05

First Impression: Shu Uemura Petal Skin Fluid Foundation

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

So in today's post, I'll be sharing with you my first impression for the Shu Uemura Petal Skin Fluid Foundation. If you are keen to find out how I feel about this foundation, then keep on scrolling!

Let us start off with the packaging because I absolutely adore it! It is really compact and travel-friendly (30ml only so you can carry it with you onto plane) and I love the white cap, which makes the packaging so minimalist. But on a side note, a white cap can be dirtied easily so you got to make sure that your hands are foundation-free before touching the cap.

Alright, back to the foundation itself. This series has a total of 11 shades and I am in shade "574" - light sand, which happens to be one of the best selling shades too. The foundation was inspired by the beauty of petals and is said to be able to recreate a semi-matte, pore-less and naturally radiant finishing. It also comes with SPF 20 PA ++, which is definitely a plus point as well.

First impression for me is that this foundation is very lightweight and watery, so it is very easy to blend and you can do that either with your beauty blender/sponge or even your finger.

However, I find that the coverage is not as good as it says but it can be built up and I assure you that it is not cakey at all. Another thing that I noticed was that the foundation sets into my fine lines on my under eye very quickly so you really got to set it in with a setting powder as soon as you are done with your foundation.

After applying the first layer, my acne scar is still quite visible.
The foundation is also very lasting and my skin stayed matte throughout the day even on my oily t-zone, which is very impressive as most of the foundation I used previously made me look shiny on my t-zone after just a few hours. I would recommend you go one shade lighter as I realised that the foundation does oxidise a fair bit so you will look darker as the day passes.

Added another thin layer of the foundation on the spots where I wanna conceal.
After a day out, my face pretty much looked the same

All in all, I love this foundation a lot as it really does give me a semi-matte finishing and it is fragrance free as well! It does not break me out, which I thought is good. So if you are considering on getting a new foundation, give this Shu Uemura Petal Skin Fluid Foundation a try!

Happy trying and I'll see you in my next post, xoxo.

Where To Take Insta Worthy Photos: Kuching, Sarawak

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

So in today's post I'll be sharing some photo spots in Kuching, Sarawak. If you're interested to plan a visit, keep scrolling down.

1) Cat Statues

Kuching, also known as The Cat City of Malaysia has got many cat statues scattered all around but the most famous one would be this that is located right outside Grand Margherita Hotel.

Do try to wake up earlier if you wish to avoid the crowd.

2) Feast and Furious Cafe

This corner cafe has got a huge mural outside it and I think it is one of the prettiest mural in Kuching.

Oh and did I mention that this cafe follows a racer theme so once you step in, you will be surrounded by many racing cars and bikes.

3) Fort Margherita and Brooke Gallery

Definitely one place you cannot miss in Kuching, Sarawak. Just look at the photos below and you will understand why.

4) Sarawak Cultural Village

No trip to Sarawak is complete without visiting this Village. It is approximately 50 minutes away from Kuching City by car.

5) Bako National Park

The oldest National Park in Sarawak is definitely a must to visit and you can also challenge yourself to a wild boar selfie while you are there.

And that's all I have for this post. Hope that you've enjoyed reading this and you can start planning for your own Kuching trip!

Till the next post, xoxo.

Haul: Bangkok Try On Fashion

Hey gorgeous  welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be sharing the clothes that I got from my recent Bangkok trip, so if you are interested to see what I got, then scroll down and continue reading!

1) Black Hi-Low Dress

I love how this dress fits me so well. It is in a chiffon material but lined with a layer of cotton, hence it is not sheer at all. Plus, the cotton makes it extra comfortable to wear.

Where I got it: Platinum Mall
How much: 200 baht (approx. SGD$8)

2) Naraya Cosmetic Pouch

What's one store you have to visit whenever you are in Bangkok? For me, it's definitely Naraya and I am in love with their Summer collection. This cosmetic pouch is shaped so perfectly that I can even use it as a clutch. What’s more, I love how it doesn't come with the ribbon that spells Naraya so it’s really like a designer clutch.

Where I got it: Central World Naraya
How much: 150 baht (approx. SGD$6.25)

3) Two-Piece Set

Next up is this two piece set that is so comfortable, I can wear it all day, everyday. It is made from really soft cotton and I love how I can lounge at home in it or complement it with a pair of sneakers for a casual sporty look.

Where I got it: Chatuchak
How much: 150 baht (approx SGD$6.25)

4) White Ruffle Top
5) Fuchsia Button Down Skirt

The fourth item is a white ruffle top, which can also be worn as an off shoulder top. I particularly like the square neckline as it emphasised on my collar bone.

I paired this top with the fifth item, that is the fuchsia button down velvety skirt. I have always wanted to buy a button down skirt and it was love at first sight for me because of its vibrant colour. Can't wait to create more outfit combinations with this skirt!

Wearing the top in the off shoulder style
Where I got the top from: Chatuchak
How much: 100 baht (approx SGD$4)

Where I got the skirt from: Pratunam morning market
How much: 200 baht (approx SGD$8)

6) Rattan Bag

This is definitely my favorite buy of the trip! I have always wanted to get my hands on the "Bali" bag. If you’re on Instagram often enough, you would have seen almost everyone carrying that round rattan bag, and almost all the online shops carry this bag as well. I too, wanted to get one but then again, it is not something unique since everyone has it. So when I saw this bag, I literally squealed! Firstly, the size is just right (I can fit a bottle and an umbrella in it) and it is reasonably cheap. Of course, it is more unique as compared to the "Bali" bag. This bag is so easy to match that I found myself carrying it too often ever since I’m back from Bangkok.

Where I got it: Ratchada Train Market
How much: 340 baht (approx. SGD$14)

7) Lilac Crochet Midi Dress

This sweet crochet midi dress caught my eye when I walked past the store thinking about the perfect summer outfit, pairing it with a straw hat. I really love the intricate crochet details both on the sleeves and below the bust area. It is also lined so it is totally not sheer, except for the bottom part.

Where I got it: Platinum Mall
How much: 300 baht (approx. SGD$12.50)

8) Boxy Crossbody Bag

Yet another bag that I have gotten from this trip and this time it's a good old boxy crossbody bag that used to be in trend. I love the colour of the bag as it reminds me of the rattan style that is so popular these days.

Where I got it: Talad Neon Night Market
How much: 200 baht (approx. SGD$8)

9) Black Floral Print Shirt
10) Black Paper Bag Buttoned Skirt with Ribbon

The black floral print shirt is also another popular trend this summer where you can see the same style selling at almost all the major fashion stores like Pull and Bear, Zara and Bershka. I love the thin material yet it is non-sheer at all, making it so perfect to wear in Singapore's humid climate.

I am seen here in this look, matching the floral top with a black paper bag buttoned skirt, which is also one of my buys from this trip. As my friend would describe it, this skirt is very "Editor's Market" style but instead of paying SGD30 plus bucks for the skirt, I paid a quarter of the price, which in my opinion, is extremely value for money.

Where I got the top from: The Knack Market
How much: 50 baht (Approx. SGD$2)

Where I got the skirt from: Pratunam Morning Market
How much: 200 baht (Apprx. SGD$8)

11) Stripey Halter Top
12) Grey Culottes

This is another top that you probably see lots of online shops selling but of course you can get it at a much cheaper price in Bangkok. I love the colour combination here and it’s made of a comfortable tee shirt material. I also like how it is layered such that when the wind blows, the top layer gets blown up but you still have a bottom layer to cover you up (if you get what I meant).

The last clothing item in this post is this casual grey culottes that I have gotten to wear it to work. I usually like to wear culottes to work as it is effortless and easy to match.

Where I got the top from: Chatuchak
How much: 100 baht (Approx. SGD$4)

Where I got the culottes from: Platinum Mall
How much: 200 baht (Approx. SGD$8)

So that's all I have to share in this Bangkok Fashion Haul. I have to say I did not buy too many items this trip because I realised I can get much cheaper and prettier stuff from Taobao and EZBuy, and I guess many of you also feel the same way too. Nonetheless, Bangkok is still the perfect place for a short getaway, so hurry up and plan your next trip.

Till the next post, xoxo.

Lip Balms I Cannot Live Without

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

As the title of this post suggests, I'll be sharing three lip balms that are my all time favorites and I totally cannot live without them. I have very dry and chapped lips and sometimes I do get eczema on my lips, therefore I am very particular when it comes to lip balms as I only use the one that is moisturizing enough for my lips. If you are keen to find out more, keep on reading!

1) Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Lip Protectant Stick

This is probably the most expensive lip balm I have ever owned but it is undoubtedly my favorite of the lot. It is the oiliest lip balm in my collection and I love how my lips feel so smooth and moisturized after applying a layer of it. I also love how it is fragrance free and colourless so it does not affect my lipcolour and acts as a very good base coat for my lipstick. To top it off, it also has a SPF 15 sunscreen to protect my lips against the sun.

2) Mentholatum Therapy Lip Balm

The next product is a huge contrast to the first one in terms of its pricing as this is one that you can get from any drugstore for less than $10. In fact, I usually get mine during their sales period and it is only about $5. Unlike the Elizabeth Arden lip balm, this one has a cool and refreshing menthol smell. I love to use this whenever my lip eczema breaks out as it helps to lessen the itch with its cooling effect. It also comes with a SPF 15 sun protection which is absolutely perfect. So for those with a tighter budget, this is definitely one lip balm you can consider.

3) Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly

Alright, I am cheating here a little because this last product is not exactly a lip balm but I love to apply it to my lips every night before I sleep so that when I wake up the next day, my lips would feel so soft and smooth. In fact, this Vaseline Jelly has so much benefits to it that you can apply it on any part of your body because it is 100% pure petroleum jelly, which means it is very gentle on the skin, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. What's more, it is also really super affordable and easily obtainable in drugstores and supermarkets. Definitely value for money in the long run as it has a lot of product in a single tub.

So that's all I have to share in this post. Start taking care of your lips especially for ladies who love to put on lip colours.

Till the next post, xoxo.

Where To Take Insta Worthy Photos: Bangkok Cafes

Hey Gorgeous, welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be sharing some Instaworthy cafes in Bangkok that you can visit the next time you’re heading there. So, if you are already planning for a trip to Bangkok, here's a post you don't wanna miss.

1) Once Cafe & Cuisine

This pink, flamingo themed cafe is a must-go if you are an avid fan of flamingoes and all things pink. But if you are not, the cafe does serve really good food and desserts too! My friend and I ordered the Tom Yam pasta and an egglet ice cream set and they were amazing!

We opted for a seating on the second floor and had the entire floor to ourselves.

Once Cafe & Cuisine is definitely an interesting place to check out if you are in the Siam area.

2) Style Nanda Pool Cafe

This second cafe is a four minute walk from Once Cafe so I decided to check it out as well. It has a total of four levels, which the first level is all cosmetics and the second level is a mixture of cosmetics and apparels with a very Instagram worthy photospot.

We then headed up to the cafe at level 4 but the interior looked pretty meh so we gave it a miss.

If you are a Style Nanda and 3CE fan, then this is a place you wanna check out. If not, I suggest you give this a miss unless you are in the vicinity.

3) May's Garden House Restaurant

To all Totoro fans out there, this is definitely one cafe you do not want to miss! Located in one of the residential estates in Bangkok, this cafe is huge and comes equipped with a garden and a private pool outside. You can take as many OOTDS as you want with the garden as your background and my personal favourite is this tree trunk.

Oh did I mention that the moment you enter the cafe, a gigantic Totoro will be there to welcome you! So cute right?!

The service provided was beyond our expectations. The staff were really friendly and they made sure that all their customers got the chance to take perfect photos as they went around the tables putting soft toys to decorate our food.

4) Ekkamai Macchiato

Our original plan was to head over to the Alice in Wonderland theme cafe called Perhaps Rabbits. Unfortunately when we got there, we were told that it was permanently closed. Despite our disappointment, we managed to find a really nice cafe called Ekkamai Macchiato to chill at.

5) Mocking Tales

This cafe is probably my second favourite in the list as it gave off a kind of magical Harry Potter vibe. If you are not into taking OOTDs, this is one cafe you can check out for insta worthy desserts. We ordered the Inferno Mountain and it was so pretty and delicious. The staff even made sure that we capture a video while the volcano erupted!

In a nutshell, the Bangkok cafe scene is getting pretty vibrant and I thoroughly enjoyed all the cafes that I had visited during this trip.

I hope this post is useful to those of you out there who is already planning on jetting off to Bangkok for a short getaway.

Till the next post, xoxo.
