Summer Paradise - My First Fashion Runway Attended

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

So in today's post, I'll be sharing my first ever fashion runway audience experience. First of all, a huge thank you to Tampines 1 for the VIP passes! I truly had an amazing and eye-opening experience.

As a fashion lover, I am always trying to keep myself updated with the latest fashion trends and the best way to do so is to attend fashion shows like the one I did last week.

My summer outfit for the fashion show

Before the show started, everyone was given refreshments from the Walawala Bar located at Holland Village.

The food was great and I believed everyone enjoyed the music performance from local band, The Lost Box, who is also a resident band of Walawala.

The fashion show commenced with six models taking their turns to strut their stuff and everyone of them shone like a star on stage that day.

This has got to be my favourite of all outfits as it featured the classic denim on denim style, which i believe can never go wrong.

Summer is the best time for shades and straw hats!

Floral dresses are also definitely an essential wear during Summer

All in all, this was definitely a eye one of a kind experience for me as it was the first time I got to see models catwalking before my eyes. To top it off, every VIP in the house was given a free float for our summer vacation and I got the watermelon float that was so cute!

Well, that's all I have for this post and I'm gonna start planning for my summer vacation with this float now!

See you in my next post, xoxo.

Youtubers Made Me Buy: Volume One

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be sharing some of the products I bought after watching some YouTube videos and I promise I'll give my most honest opinions on whether you should burn a hole in your pocket for these products like I did. So if you are interested to know more, keep on reading!

1) Too Faced Hangover Setting Spray

his is a highly raved setting spray by Kathleenlights and being a loyal supporter of this Youtuber from Miami, I went ahead and got it without second thoughts. My first impression of this setting spray was that it smells so good! I love anything that smells like coconut and this Hangover setting spray has got just the right smell. Also, I love how this spray was able to spread the mist out evenly and cover my whole face. There really is nothing bad about this setting spray but I don't think I'll be purchasing it again only because I prefer my Urban Decay one that has an oil control effect, which is the most important factor for me.

2) Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

This second product that I'm about to share is another star product that my favourite Youtuber Kathleenlights loves. If you have watched her makeup tutorials before, you would have been able to spot this concealer as she uses it ever so often. The first thing I like about this concealer is its wide and flat wand that fits so well on my under eye and occasional acnes. I love the creamy consistency and it is so easy to blend without creasing. However, one major bummer is that we can’t get this from Sephora or any physical makeup stores in Singapore. I was only able to get it from an online store called Shopping District.

3) MAC Melba

I got to know of this MAC blusher from another Youtuber called OhEmma, when she recently posted her May's favourites and I was immediately intrigued by the shade of this blusher. I am a sucker when it comes to rose shade blushers and Melba is in the loveliest shade of rose with a slight sheen to it that gives your face a healthy looking glow. The packaging is black and classy and I love the size of it as it is so compact and easy to travel with.

4) Double Face earring

he fourth item is not a beauty product but it's one of my favourite in this list and it's this man-faced earring. This is also an item shared by OhEmma and when I saw her wearing it, I knew I had to get it. So when I saw this earring on Ezbuy, I immediately added it to my cart and checked it out. I love how the faces on each side are facing the opposite direction, which makes it so quirky. I got a pair in silver and it also comes with gold if you prefer a classier look.

5) FLAMINGOES

Alright, I cheat. My last and final item in this list is neither a beauty nor a fashion product and it is as I stated - flamingoes. I first saw this Taiwanese Youtuber LoveMiiHuang talked about her love for flamingoes in one of her monthly favourites video last year and I fell in love with that pink creature almost immediately. From then on, I have been collecting flamingoes and I have an extensive collection of it now. Talk about an obsession. Haha.

Wanna try spotting how many flamingoes are there on my dressing table
So, that's all I have for today and I hope you have enjoyed reading this brand new series on my blog.

Till next time, xoxo.

Ten Fashion Staples You Need To Have In Your Wardrobe

Hey gorgeous, welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be sharing ten fashion staples that I think every one of you should have. These are fashion items that, in my opinion, will never go out of fashion. So if you are ready, then let's get started.

1) A white blouse.

Honestly speaking, a white blouse will never ever go wrong. Match it with a pair of trousers or a skirt and you are ready for work. On weekends, you can even pair it with denim and you are ready for a day of fun activities. A white blouse is definitely the easiest thing to go with and it will never go out of fashion.

you can also tie up your blouse for a casual look

2) A Little Black Dress (LBD)

As cliché as it may sound, a little black dress is definitely a wardrobe staple for every fashionista out there. It is the most versatile apparel as you can literally wear it to every occasion! Like the white blouse, a little black dress will never go out of fashion and in my personal opinion, I feel that I can rewear a black dress many times and nobody will notice that.

3) A Denim Jacket

While doing this post, I have been asking myself what is one outer wear I cannot do without and my beloved black denim jacket popped into my mind. Many people may feel that denim jackets are not the easiest thing to match and play around with but for me, I feel that a denim jacket can definitely enhance a normal looking outfit into something stylish. Wear a simple dress, throw on a denim jacket and you are ready to turn some heads wherever you go. You can even match a denim jacket with denim, such as skirts, dress or literally anything. So for me, a denim jacket is definitely a wardrobe staple.

4) A Pair Of Jeans

As long as it fits you best and brings out the best in you, any kind of jeans is good. For me, I love high-waisted or mid-rise skinny jeans. If you have already read my previous post on How I Style Jeans In A Feminine Way, you would have seen how versatile a pair of jeans can be, and the possibility of matching it with other clothes is literally limitless.

5) A slip dress

This is definitely another wardrobe staple for me as I love how easy it is to match. It's just like the name of the dress, slip on and off you go. There are limitless ways on how you can wear a slip dress in my opinion and in the pictures below, I'll be showing you two ways.

6) A Pair Of White Sneakers

Who doesn't own a pair of white sneakers, seriously?! If you don't, please head down to the nearest Converse store and get your pair of Chuck Taylors now because it is basically the most effortless footwear in the entire universe. A pair of white sneakers can literally match with any outfit. From a sporty look to smart casual or even business casual, you will be able to ace all these by putting on a pair of white sneakers.

7) A Pair Of Pumps In Basic Colours

What do I mean by basic colours? It can be white, nude, black or navy. And I guarantee you that on those lazy days where you don't want to think of what shoes to match your outfits, these pumps will come in handy. Furthermore, it is so easy to slip on that you really need not use much effort.

8) A Pair Of Heels

This may be a shock to some of you because every girl knows that heels can be a pain in the ass (or your feet for that matter). But yes, for a girl who has so many blister scars on my heels like a decorated army veteran, I can totally understand why you are having lots of question marks above your head now. To me, heels come in handy on days I need to look formal or feminine. When I attend a special occasion such as a wedding in that lovely gown, I will definitely need a pair of heels to pull off that elegant look. So, a pair of heels should be every girl's wardrobe staple.

9) Denim Shorts

Living in Singapore means it's summer all year long so for me, denim short is a must have in the wardrobe. For days that are extremely warm or when I have to head out to run errands, I wilp usually throw on a pair of denim shorts, together with a nice tee and I am ready to leave the house.

Also wearing the same white blouse which I previously talked about

10) Baseball cap

Last but not least, to cover your bed hair or to fix your bad hair days, everyone should have at least one baseball cap that literally goes well with any outfits (okay, unless you're wearing a gown but if you are, I'm almost positive that you'll be styling your hair).

And, that's all I have to share in this post. I hope you have enjoyed reading and I will see you in my next post. Xoxo

DIY Lipstick Workshop By doTERRA

Hey everyone, welcome back!

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in a DIY Lipstick Workshop organised by doTERRA and I thought I should share this fun experience with everyone out here who wishes to know more!

A little background story of doTERRA before I get started. I only got to know about this company after joining the workshop and I was immediately impressed by the quality of the essential oils they are selling. So basically, the lipsticks that we created were made with their essential oils and one of the many benefits is that their essential oils are certified 100% safe to consume. As a frequent lipstick user, this is definitely a plus point for me as I do not have the habit of removing my lipstick before every meal.

The workshop started with the trainer, Zee educating us on some basic information on essential oils and I was especially attentive when she talked about the essential oils that are good for chapped lips as I have perpetual dry lips that restricts me from using certain lipsticks.

After the short introduction, we got to choose our lipstick packaging - from the lipstick holder all the way to the packaging box. I love how they take care of details like this and make this DIY lipstick really personalised.

We get to choose the colours we want too and these colourings are made from plant extract so its 100% au naturale.
Okay so good things must share so here's the recipe
The essential oils we used

Bee wax is also one of the main ingredient

While waiting for our lipsticks to solidfy towards the end of the session, Zee even taught us how to do our own lip scrub as well.

My end product
All in all, I feel that this workshop is very informative and interesting. I was pleasantly surprised with the lasting effect of the lipstick as well!

If you are also keen to join similar workshops, head over to their website and facebook page to see when is the next available workshop dates!

Well, I am going off to make more DIY lipsticks now. See you in my next post, xoxo.

How I Style: Hari Raya Special

Hey everyone, welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be doing another Hari Raya Special and this time it's a 'How I Style' post.

I have always wanted to dress myself in Kebayas or Baju Kurongs during Racial Harmony Day when I was a kid so in this article, I'll be sharing 3 traditonal yet hipster-looking outfits that everyone can try wearing this festive season!

The first outfit is this printed flared hi-low kebaya set from Lubna. I personally love how it deviates from the traditional kebaya due to its floral prints and hi-low cut. I got the entire set in international size M but I feel it's a little oversized for me as I am usually a Uk 6-8. If you are also around the same size as me, my suggestion is to get a size S instead. I matched this outfit with a gold coloured wedge for a formal and elegant look, but if you prefer to be more casual looking, try putting on a pair of white sneakers and it would definitely look good too.

The second outfit is also one from Lubna and it is the double peplum kurung set. I really adore the double peplum detail at the top, and that was also the main reason why I purchased it. I also got this set in size M and honestly, the top is just too big for me but the skirt fits quite well. However, that's only because I have a bigger bottom than a usual UK 6/8. This set also comes in dusty pink so if you are not feeling adventurous like me to take on a mustard colour, you can go for the pink one, which I think looks great too. I also paired this set with the same golden wedge but it would look good with black kitten heels too. I would not suggest wearing it with flats as the skirt may be a little too long. I am 163cm tall and I had to wear heels just so that the skirt would not touch the ground.

My last outfit, which is also my personal favourite of this post, is a mix and match of a maroon lace top from Zalia and a navy maxi skirt from Uniqlo. Red and blue can never go wrong together and that's how I felt about this outfit. I really love the sleeve details of the top that shows a bit of the inner lining, which creates depth to it. Also, the knee high slit of the maxi skirt made this outfit somewhat different from the first two. As this is a more casual outfit, it will be more fun to match it with a pair of sneakers.

To complete these looks, I have done an earth-toned smokey eye look with the Toofaced Chocolate Bar palette.

First, I applied the Salted Caramel shade over my lids as the base colour, followed by the Milk Chocolate shade. Then I proceeded to add the Glided Ganache shade in the crease and blended it well with the first two colours. I then smudged the Triple Fudge shade close to my lash line for that smokey effect and finished it off with the Creme Brulee shade in the centre. Also, I used the the White Chocolate shade in the bar as my browbone highlight.

So that completes this post! I hope you have enjoyed reading it, as usual, and I will see you in my next post, xoxo!

Hari Raya Special: Traditional Food From Pasar Malam

Hey Readers, welcome back!

Hari Raya is just around the corner and that means it's time to feast at all the pasar malams that have sprouted up everywhere, not forgetting the biggest one at Geylang Serai. I'm sure most of you have already done your research on what's new there this year to try. For me, as much as I love the new items, somehow deep inside me I prefer the traditional food stuff that we see since we were young. Therefore in today's post, I will be sharing some of the food that you can get at practically any pasar malam (avoid the crowd at Geylang Serai).

1) Dengdeng, widely known as the halal bak kwa. The meat here is usually either beef or chicken and they are so tender and soft unlike our chinese bak kwa. However, I do feel that it is a little oilier than normal bak kwa. Two pieces of dengdeng is approximately SGD $5 so it is slightly more costly than the chinese bak kwa. It also comes with spicy flavour which is my personal favourite so I really do highly recommend you trying if you haven't already.

2) Vadai is a savoury fried snack that originated from India. Over the years, it has become a popular food in Pasar malams all over Singapore and you will see long queues for this wherever you go. I personally go for the bigger ones that has got prawns on it and these usually cost $2 for 3 pieces and the stall owners will throw in some green chilli for you to go with it. It tastes a little like chinese fried fritters and I love to eat them when it is hot as the crust is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

3) Tea Leaf Eggs are basically hard boiled eggs cooked in a herbal tea soup for an extended period of time until the entire egg turn brownish black in colour. This is what I usually look for when I go to the usual pasar malam. I love the herbal smell of the eggs and I usually ask for those at the bottom or darker looking ones as that meant they are cooked for a longer time. The Pasar malam stalls usually sell them at $2 for 3 eggs and I personally feel that they make a good, healthy snack!

4) Keropok Lekor is another traditional Malay food that I always go for in Pasar Malam. It is basically fried fish paste that gives off a fishy smell once it is cooled down. There are two types of keropok lekor, one is the long and skinny (but usually crispier) type and the other is short and fat (usually chewier) that I personally prefer.

5) Ramly burger is a staple in all pasar malams and I believe it’s not unfamiliar to anyone. This is s god choice to go for if you are looking for something cheap and good. I like it that the burger is so much better than burgers from fast food joints where you can get it for less than half price. There are usually more than one stall in a pasar malam selling ramly burgers but just look for the one with the longest queue and you won’t be disappointed.

Well, that's all I have for my favourite traditional pasar malam food. Let me know if you have any recommendations and I would love to try them out too! Happy eating, xoxo.
